Dear
Parents, I'm having a blast with my students in Spanish! They keep me entertained, and I believe
we’re all having fun as we learn. The Spanish 1 and 2 students are well into their
books. There are many topics at the beginning of the year that are conducive to physical activity and songs, each of which
have made learning the material much easier and more interesting. Students continue to have almost daily assignments and still
receive time at the end of each class to begin their work so that I can check how they're doing. Please remember that
they usually receive full credit on homework simply for trying, completing, and turning their work in on time. If assignments
are late, they may be turned in for 20% off each day late. If work is late due to an excused absence, the student is allowed
the number of days excused, plus one, before there is any penalty. There is a quiz and/or test each week to assess performance.
Students may ONLY make up quizzes or tests if they had an excused absence. All
students have workbooks that are provided by the school but in which they cannot write. If your son or daughter would like
to buy one to write in, there are partially used workbooks that are available for $10 each. These are workbooks that have
so much writing at the beginning that they can no longer be assigned through the school, but the writing is before the pages
that our students now need. All money goes back into the school’s textbook fund. If your son or daughter writes in their
school-assigned workbook, it currently costs $26 for them to replace it with a new book.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 347-2411, or e-mail me at lmaroe@mvsd11.org.
Sincerely, Mrs. Maroe
